Merino wool is synonymous with comfort and functionality. We've taken hardshell comfort to a new level with our new MERINO GUARDIAN SHELL Freeride collection. For the first time, we have successfully applied the natural Merino fiber throughout the inside of the garment.
Anyone who enjoys freeriding and ski touring must be prepared to handle alternating periods of heavy perspiration during vigorous exercise and freezing cold during the breaks. Conventional three-layer materials quickly reach their limits under these conditions, causing discomfort. MERINO WOOL, on the other hand, has an equalizing effect and improves the membrane's functionality. It can store large volumes of moisture without feeling wet, slowly releasing the moisture through the membrane to the external environment. This buffer effect makes the MERINO GUARDIAN SHELL one of the most comfortable and functional freeriding collections on the market.
In the jacket and pants, we've applied a thin 130 g/m² Merino lining that is laminated to the Toray Dermizax® EV membrane throughout the inside of the garment. The membrane keeps wind and water out (20.000 mm water column), yet it is highly breathable (45.000 g/m²/24h) and elastic (200% stretch). At the same time, the membrane is non-porous, making it easy to care for. These characteristics make these garments ideal companions for a day of freeriding.
The jacket and pants working together like a well trained team.
They are connected to each other with a double protection snow guard integrated into the jacket. The snow guard can be used in the classic manner (with silicon-coated elastic band and the triple button fly) or it can be zippered to the pants separate snow guard. Either way, the snow crystals dont stand a chance!
The pants have a high cut and are reinforced with SWISSWOOL in the lumbar vertebra zone. The reinforced wool of Swiss origin protects the wearer from impacts while also providing warmth and comfort and buffering large volumes of moisture. The elastic fit system is a broad elastic Velcro® system that provides a simple and effective way to adjust width for the best possible fit. The leg bottoms are equipped with large-area protection against sharp edges and have integrated gaiters. The gaiters can be folded up and snapped in place to help avoid embarrassing falls when walking in ski boots. Large ventilation openings are located slightly to the rear at thigh height, so even long ascents can be handled with grace. "
